Maybe the true reason I’m always cold

Is because the chill comes from within

I only forgot the freeze

When surrounded by those who warm me

That is why I try

To be kind and warm to those I care for

The heating source of those who are cold

Like me

This is not always an easy feat

When my gloves and sweater are rejected

Used up and torn before they’re returned

The furnace not always eager to burn

Still I try to remember

That the world is cold enough

So I keep offering a seat in front of the fire

To those I believe need it most

Even when sitting alone, I keep the flames kindled

For my own sake
