How crazy it is to think we’ve driven the same road
Seen the same freeway overpasses through the windshield
The same graffiti written across the cement walls
Endured the heavy traffic as we attempted to make a simple lane change
Do you also grit your teeth?
Do you drown out the outside world with the volume all the way up?
Does your mind often go adrift as your body sets to autopilot for a frequent destination?
I wonder if I’ve ever passed you by
Worse, if my stubborn will to get where I was going lead me to cut you off
Perhaps one day I’ll glance out my window
To catch a glimpse of you steering your ship.
And though our journeys may differ and lead to different paths,
mine will have one more story to tell.
